2. Easter in the book!
You must have read Kernighan and Richie's "The C Programming language"
Easter Egg:
If you look up the word "recursion" in
the index, you'll find that Kernighan
and Ritchie have listed page 269 as
one of the reference pages. Page 269
happens to be the page of the index
containing the word recursion. This
seems to be the only self-referential
entry the index and is a subtle and
clever way to illustrate the meaning
of recursion.
3. Netscape:
a) Try "about:mozilla" in the address bar in Netscape...also
try it out on Internet Explorer.
The older versions of Internet
Explorer show more weird outputs..
b) Useful eggs: Try out these in the address bar...
1. about:cache to view contents of
cache
2. about:global for global history
3. about:memory-cache to view contents
of memory cache
4. about:image-cache to view contents
of pictures on disk
5. about:history
4. Internet Explorer
a) View Credits on latest versions of IE..
You could see the credits
for IE on older versions but those easter eggs are disabled
now..still there
is a trick to do it...try it out..
Easter Egg:
In the latest releases of IE5, the ability
to view the hidden credits screens have been
disabled and many people still try in vain
to access it. However, even though the
automatic ability to view the egg has been
removed, you can still extract it manually
from IE5.
1. In the address bar, type the url:
res://shdoclc.dll/wcee.htm
2. Go to VIEW menu, and choose SOURCE to
open it up in notepad.
3. Search for the phrase, gurjPRR in the
text file to elicit the following lines:
if (DecodeStr("gurjPRR") != window.name)
return;
4. Delete those two lines, and save the file
as an .htm file on your computer.
5. Open that HTM file to view the hidden
credits. Right click a whole lot to slow it
down.
There are several funny parts throughout, so
keep an eye on them.
